we started our shirt assessment yeasterday and well i have nearly finished just basically waiting on jane to come in and show us the collar demonstration. to be frank im finding this quite easy and am happy to race on ahead i mean we all had the lessons we all no how to do the majority of it so why is everyone freaking out its simple its a womans shirt!! but yeah cant do any more till thursday which if im being honest i think im gonna finish it then only gotta attach the facings do the buttonholes and buttons and the collar and hey presto. but i do have to admit wen it was sleeveless it did make a dandy little waistcoat for me which i adored really didnt wanna turn it into a shirt but hey the assessments a shirt 1 not a waistcoat, mabey i might make 1 just for fun who no's hahaha

mass - debator arguments boooo- ya

yeah i missed it but ive been caught up all up to date and on the winns and loses 1-all surly we cuda brought the hole team to a 2-0 but sadly we were a man down so im gonna blame it all on that hahaha ut yeah there were some real interesting arguments an a lot of passion came out of pple which shows so pretty througher research well done people :D however i belive it also got a bit heated at times to hahaha which show more passion and determination loves it!!!

roi de flats dans illustrator

I've actually found something im actually quite good at on the computer - drawing flats on illustrator. I no ive gone from hating mac's with a passion to actually growing use to them using shortcuts on the key board to, how good am i? hahahaha. I dunno i just love the way they turn out: so precise, bold and professional looking. I prefer using the computer for flats! We also did hand drawn flats but, well to me if i'm doing it by hand it has to look artistic! Which is why to me fashion illustrations shud be done by hand and have a creative flare about them, flats are for more precise drawings and details why i beleive i will allways use illustrator for them!!!!

p p p p p pick up a peclers

to be honest i be truthfull with every 1 i have no love wat so ever for that magazine to me its over rated 4 wat it is id rather people just be able to use their own minds!! but then others say that means there wont be any trends so so what there only trends because all the high st shope steall all the designers interpritations soo meh im not a fan didnt rele get much outa the meetin either to be frank, but suppose then again designers do need a starting point but peclers basically for me wont be it

man down

as i wont be able to be their 4 the big debate as ive got my educational psychologist appointment what am i gonna do?? well i decided and talked to tilly and well my argument will be here shortly hahaha arguing agasinst the ethical aspects of fashion and against couture. i choose to argue against because i believe it will give me a better insight to the issues, but do i really wanna argue against couture? well no! but kinda have too but i will. Feel a bit mean tho kinda lettin the team down they gonna have a disadvantage now. but i also got 1 of my friends to take notes so i can read up on the other points which i think will help fill me in on wat im missing out!

dull as folk

err i hate this topic its so uninspiring to me i dont like the way things are with the traditional folk ware, i just hate it!! so how do i solve this dilemma? well i wanted t explore the relms of folklore and dark fairy tales but sarah said it was streching the brief a little, so then i asked about encorporating military ware and well sarah says my problems im always thinkin of the final outcome, which is kinda true but with this the final outcome is pre-set a shirt. so how do i solve it well ive gathered some research, mostly from the russian architecture of the time, and had another talk with sarah and now i no that it doesnt have to be dull i just have to take aspects of the traditional folk ware and do wat i wish realistic or not design is wat design is and im set to push the boundaries of design!! shall let u know how i get on with it, but i can assure u its gonna be different!

westwood watch out

ohhh cricky ive just sent an email to the queen of fashion's company-vivvean westwood-enquireing about work placements. I love everything the Westwood company does and stands for. Westwood was the reason i wanted to do fashion! The people i aspire to become, the trend setter, the rogue, fighting out against the normal, making a statement and actually having it heard. im so exicited to hear back from them, but well i dunno if i will hear from them. but hey wat harm can it do asking if you dont ask you dont get do you worth a shot i suppose! god i would love to do a placement for them, i really dont wanna end up doin a placement in buying i no ive not gave it a chance yet but its the aspect i dont like im all for the design construction and pattern cutting!! ohh well wish me luck!

late is better than never

i no its a bit late and i should have done it bfore but at the moment my heads a kimbo and ive only just got round to it so it will have to do Tilly set us work about presenting and presentation all based on public speaking so here it is:

5 dos of public speaking:
1)Make it relevant to the audience
2)don’t be afraid to shock the audience, be honest bout your ideas
3)Unleash your personality
4)Plan your examples
5)Be enthusiastic and passionate

5 don’ts of public speaking (well 6 couldn’t narrow it down)
1)don’t 4get what your talking about
2)don’t be dull
3)don’t keep ‘erm’ ‘ahh’ ing or stay silent
4)don’t move 4 no reason
5)don’t expect the people your presenting to no everything your on about
6)don’t bye pass questions

The second clip was one of the most helpful it was entertaining straight to the point and no babbling plus the bloke giving the presentation did a very good job of giving examples of how its done, so its kind of like visual aid as well as helpful tips. They’ve haven’t really helped me as far as I’m concerned as I believe public speaking has never been a weakness of mine to be frank, I just get on with it just see it as something that has to be done I think of it to be more like speaking to my friends basically but juts louder.

fdp - check me out im good

we were given the topic organic and then we had to explore the work and take inspiration from dale chihuly, he was mesmirising the way he painted the instilations he produced i knew sarah had a passion for him and now i can understand why, he is a true genious and an insoiration. the thing that inspired me was draping i took the inspiration from nature, trees, vines, bark and roots. The dangleyness of the vines, the grain of the bark and the curvyness of the roots just struck me with draping! so i focused upon draping for this project! if you wanna see the ood board or sketch book ask sarah. i just love the way the neck line drapes, the way rhe side rouges up i love it, love the way it looks and loves the design hope you like it!

the modeling days

on thursday we learnt to model - putting fabric on the stand and creating a pattern from that. i liked doing it accept i had 1 of the new models which was very hard to try pin material too, but other than that it was very fun!!. until trying to put the fabric pattern onto paper ekkk god my darts wer a pain in the ass to line up but with a little help from jodie i was able to reposition them so it lined up proper but man was that fun really enjoyed it.

how to be sucessful in 5 point!!

1)TRUST YOUR INSTINCT- gut feeling, if you cant trust yourself who can you
2)MISTAKES ARE KEY- you can learn so much from them
3)DONT EXPECT THINGS TO COME TO YOU- you have to work for it youve done so much work for it now why throw it away
4)PLACEMENTS ARE YOUR FOOT IN THE DOOR- try do as many as you can in the area you want to specialise in
5)UNDERSTAND THE BRIEF- if you cant follow it your not going to be doing very well in the industry are you

pccp the pathway to industry

Bloody hell thoes machines are fast but boy are they fun and so much eaiser than domestic machines. others find them hard to use and thread but i dont see why? Sure its different but its still the same process. however im not to confident on the overlockers never have been just the prospects of slicing all my hard work appart probably! but any who the pressers make life so much eaiser never would have thought pressing would make such a difference but it does, i would consider my self some what of an expert at the moment but i no things will become a lot more difficult and im gonna struggel at times but hey practice makes perfect and plus its all in the pressing!!! as for pattern cutting ohh my god the patern master confused me to look at but now i see its going to become 1 of my best friends in this industry god so many new tricks to pick up but they all seem straight forward enough, well for now atleast but.... yey i created my bodice pattern today woohoo just think i can actually use that to create an actual item of clothing!! i think im going to enjoy this topic very much be fun when we'll soon be able to play about and experiment!!

Thursday 2 October 2008

PPRD makes you think don't it!

firstly i have to vent how bloody stupid mac's are i mean what a blinkin joke errrrr no right click its just rediculose but something i will have to learn to deal with, luckly the it tutor is really helpful. Its still a stupid thing which im going to have to try get use to tho.
-----------------------------------------------------
anyway's back to the topic, PPRD today really made me think 99% dont make it to the dreams they have as designers! its alright saying that there is still the other 99% of jobs you dont no about, but as everyone else i wanna be that 1% i wanna be the best i can be, try my hardest to succeed. We had to look at sucessful people around us for example the anne summers lady Jacqueline Gold, Vivenne Westwood, Martin Luther King. What made them suceed? What qualities do they have in common? its easy they all have dertimination/drive, assertiveness, will power, they've been inspired and followed their dreams strived for sucess and not stoped till theyv'e got the thing they've aimed for. This is what makes a person sucessful! i can be that person i might not yet have the skills, but ive got the dertimination the will power and the dream so whats going to stop me. and thats why im studying here to learn thoes skills and key points that are going to help yeah at time i propbaly will feel down and like crap but thats when you friends can help you the most and thoes are the people that are gonna stick with you for life the ones here and the ones back home. my frineds mean everthing to me and their always gona be there!
-------------------------------------------------------
so whats inspired me? im not going to bullshit you and list off a reel of designers and artist, yeah some have but im not gonning to copy them and try recreate their styles, thats what their famous for! the world doesn't need someone who's just going to copy the people that have already made it! They struggled and had to stand up for their dream, fight for them and boy am i going to fight for it. The people that inspire me are the people that have made a difference, changed the way we as people think and look at things which is bloody hard compared to how poeple are with their closed minds and pretentiousness. but i will try and i will suceed.

The start of something beautiful

aib wow a new place a new start,
but with all that comes alot of work, for one this blog, my first thoughts were undescribeable new people, new town, new everything. Change is it really as good as the rest, as the saying goes, well you have to do alot more thats for certain along with all these new insecurities like money issues trying to fit in as well as trying to keep in touch with the old friends you dont wanna loose. However its not as daunting as i was thinking the strangers which i now call friends are so welcoming and caring and if i need any support ive also got my new house mates which are great, we dont always agree but boy do we have a laugh and i no that if i ever just need a hug all i have to do i ask any of them and they'd come comfort me, i dont so much miss my family as much as i miss the people i see everyday i miss the small things my friends do the ditsy moment they have, its so weird not having them here because i use to see my best mate daily but now ive only just been able to talk to him as weve only just got the internet, so yeah thats great i can still keep in contact with the people that mean the world to me.Hopefully all the people im with now it will be like at christmas
